Beach Store - Shipping Service Review from Fresh Meadows, New York
The worst customer service experience I have ever had. I purchased two replacement umbrella poles and had them shipped to my address via Fed Ex. Although I provided the correct address, Fed Ex could not find it and returned the poles to shipper. When I called to arrsnge to have the poles re-delivered, I was told I had to pay a re-shipping fee. The customet service rep (who apparently is the CEO of the company although he never identified himself to me) was rude and disinterested and made no effort to understand what I was telling him about why Fed Ex was mistaken about the incorrect address. When I expressed my frustration, he transferred me to someone else, who was not quite as rude and appeared to be trying to be helpful, but who then transferred me back to him. After essentially accusing me of lying about the address (the home in which I live) he said he would no longer deal with me because I was "very unpleasant," hung on me multiple times, and told me I was "banned" from making purchases at his store. He ultimately refused to re-ship the poles and instead refunded the transaction without crediting the shipping fee. It was a surreal experience, reminiscent of the "soup nazi" episode in Seinfeld. I have made a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.

Garbage Customer Service
I received an umbrella and the lock that secures the two poles did not work. I asked for a replacement for the umbrella and when I contacted the Beach Store to follow up I was given a rep name Stewart (I think that was his name - a man with an accent)) who not only refused to give me the appropriate customer service he also refused to let me talk to his supervisor or connect me to his supervisors voicemail. He offered to send a replacement pole in a different color (it is not what I ordered) and would not exchange the entire umbrella. When I told him this wasnt acceptable he told me that "this is not productive" and refused to transfer me to someone else. ABSOLUTE GARBAGE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Beachstore.com won't credit a measly $10.93 for a returned item
I purchased a beach lounge chair from Beachstore.com. It was allegedly a fold flat lounger, but no matter what I did, it wouldn't fold flat. I paid $15.00 to return it, but since I considered it defective, I asked the company to refund the price of the chair plus the original shipping cost. They refused because they said the chair was not defective, I just didn't know how to make it lay flat. I swear, I did everything but pound it with a hammer to get it to lay flat, and no luck. I complained to my credit card company, and Beachstore.com's solution was to offer me $10.93 credit toward my next purchase! Like I'd ever buy anything from them again! Worst customer service experience ever; overall, it's very difficult to reach them by phone as they prefer to handle customer complaints via a complicated online posting system...not for those who aren't computer literate.
